I wish we'd get rid of tagging.

Everyone's tags are right out there. None are secret. Click on a userid, go to their profile, and their tags are right there.

Tags are useful and need to be kept. As far as "offensive" tags, they are often attached to thread titles which are themselves offensive (or to threads where the initial post is offensive.)
