Able2know and the iPhone

Robert, this new site design looks even better on the iPhone than the old one. I'm curious if there is something you could do to recognize when someone is using a mobile browser and make the font bigger or something similar.

No complaints if you can't or if it would take too much time. I'm not even sure how many people this would help besides me and maybe Thomas.

Anyone else have any iPhone and able2know related comments?

Thank you.

How does the speed compare on the iPhone now that there aren't all the ad graphics to load in this redesign?

(Bumping this up in case it got overlooked.)

I have the fancy 3G version Cool , so the load times are really quick. I haven't noticed it to be any slower/faster w/o ads.

Thanks for the bump.

Yes we can serve different style sheets or even make a mobile version of the site. But not many people access the site from cell phones so it's a low priority right now.

Is doing something simple sounding like changing the font size a whole lot of work? It sure sounds easy Wink

Did you know you have an option to change font sizes in your preferences? Have you tried that while on the iPhone and did it have a positive effect?

For iphones that might be all that's needed but for the majority of cell phone browsers a lot more is needed. There are a lot more urgent priorities than mobile access but it's definitely part of the plan.

You can probably change the font size yourself on the phone fairly easily anyway.

I did change it on my preferences; it's a little better, but I still have to zoom in quite a bit to clearly read the text, and then I have to side scroll to read an entire line. When it tilt it on the side it's pretty good, but harder to manager one handed.

And I'm unable to find where I can change the font on my iphone safari settings itself.

I'm being picky, I know, but I'm really liking able2know on the go (if only I didn't have to worry about capital letters or spelling).

I gotcha Robert. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Let me know if you need some testers for able2know_onthego. I could test iPhone and blackberry access.

Maybe an X-Large font in the preferences menu would solve the problem I'm having. If the X-Large font was twice as big as the large font, it'd be perfect.

Not sure if that's an easier change.

I think I may be able to submit some screen shots of what able2know looks like on the iPhone.

I'll check it out.

Map, I have safari on my desktop mac.. do you have a VIEW in the browser bar? If so, it has a choice to Make Text Bigger.

Nope, I'm about to post exactly what I can see.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's NICE. Just curious how hard it would be to make it PERFECT.

Ok, here is what it looks like with LARGE as the font preference.

The image on the left is about how clear the text is. But the image on the right is the actual size of the iPhone window.

For some reason when I screen shot the iPhone it makes the image large than the screen is.

I find that a2k looks great sideways. I just got my iPhone And it looks great. The "top" and "bottom" buttons don't appear though.

I love this phone...

I don't really like the phone sideways. Harder to use one handed.

I found a quick way to jump to the top of the page though. Try touching the time at the top. That should pop you to the top of the page. Haven't found a quick way to the bottom.

Home key and the 'lock' key.

The circle on the front of the phone, and the key at the top of the phone on the right.

Push them both at the same time, your screen should flash.

It's easier said than done, I'm afraid.

I saw on my phone that the 'top' and 'bottom' links are there...but they are reeeeaaaaaallllllyyyyy small, and I can only see them by zooming in and looking in the far top of the entire page. They don't follow your screen like the do on the home computer.

I love this phone too.
