I think Bush will veto the bill. He owes too many favours to the people who payed for his presidency.

Sadly, I think Bush will veto with a big power play. He has direct interests here, as the Clear Channel, which is run by his close associates is an important step in totally controlling the flow of music and information to the American public, and that does seem to be his Big Brotherly agenda.

It's interesting that his first possible veto will fall across unpopular lines. Some 70% of the public stands with the Congress on this, as, I believe, they should. Whether this has an effect on his electoral popularity is debatable. He runs on the 'I Am Your Sherrif Against Them Evil Doers' platform and that, for reasons real and false keeps him the likely winner of the coming election. People are afraid, and possibly more afraid of terrorists than totalitarian-lite home government. Once a few agencies close to him have total control of the airwaves, how lite his planned hegemony is open to question.

All one Squoink's opinion, of course.

Hey, Beedle. The FCC used to be the guardian of the airways just as the SEC watched carefully over Wall Street.

Happy Days ain't here again,
The skies above are drear again,
Let us sing a dirge of fear again,
Happy Days ain't clear again. Crying or Very sad

Who ya gonna trust? Trust Busters? Rolling Eyes
