She must be made of rubber and springs. Spent a night at doggie hospital. How can you get het at 45MPH and walk away?

Bump on the head:

Road rash / exposed bone:

As soon as you catch that car.

Glad to see she survived her encounter.

Glad she survived OK, CJ.
Give her a Beef Wellington for me.

In the 80s or 90s, I saw something like that:
I was driving home from my girlfriend 's house,
out on Long Island, around 1 a.m.
A white pussy cat ran out in front of my car,
and he crossed the double yellow lines.
I saw him get hit in the head by the tire
of a car coming in my direction.
He got knocked back onto the double yellow lines.
I turned around and parked my car at a perpendicular angle,
to illuminate his position, then approached to investigate.

After a moment, he raised his head: a sign that he was not dead.
Police arrived and checked to find out Y some guy was standing
in the middle of the street. The officer put on gloves and lifted
him onto the side of the road. He appeared to be OK.

Which is precisely how she got in the street. Anyone who knows hounds knows that they just run until they're too tired to run any more, then they wonder where the hell they are.

One of my son's friends left the front door open and she was off like rockethound, straight across a busy road about 1/8 mile to the north, heading for the woods.

Glad to see your girl is all right.

I rescued a little fox hound after a similar accident a couple of years ago - she slipped her collar and ran out into traffic and into the side of a car. The owner just walked away Evil or Very Mad

Aw, poor doggie!

I hope she gets better quickly & has learned to be a bit more careful!

She's beautiful, even in her sorry state at the moment.

Thanks all. She's doing quite well - a little sore to be sure, but as far as we can tell she's going to make a full recovery. Didn't even break a single bone! Rubber and springs....

FYI that's an 8-month old female American Walker Hound.

Think you should change her name to "Lucky" Wink

Glad your hound is on the mend. Certainly a fine looking girl. She is still a pup...hope she lives to a ripe old age. All the best.

Whew what a scare though huh CJ? Lucky pup that one. Glad she'll be okay. We've lost one dog and one cat (years ago) from being hit by cars. It's really tough.
