Dog risks his life for kittens

A dog has risked its life to protect four kittens trapped in a house fire in Melbourne, Australia (video).

Firefighters found Leo guarding the kittens which were in a cardboard box in one of the bedrooms.

When the fire broke out inside the house, the family of four plus their other dog managed to escape.

However Leo paid the price for his bravery. He succumbed to the smoke and heat.

Firefighters rushed the dog to safety and revived the unconscious Leo with a heart massage and oxygen.

Leo is my new hero! What a clever little terrier!

But you should have seen the local (Melbourne) media coverage on Sunday! There was Leo on the ABC news, covered in soot & looking exhausted .... oxygen mask on his noble snout to revive him Very Happy
Then a shot of his "reunion with the tiny kittens he protected. There he was, licking their little faces happily till they were quite soggy ... Laughing

The firefighters are now nominating Leo for a bravery award. What a dog! Very Happy

I once was out walking my very old little female dog 18 years old, with a numbers of my cats along and a Chow-Chow decided to chase the cats.

My little girl who at the time was on her very last leg s within weeks of dying as it turn out, attacked the Chow-Chow and chased him for a block or so.

No one was allow to attack her cats.
