NRA Releases Anti-Obama Ads

This is one of the weird attack ads. Obama's pandered on guns and is on record saying "I’m not going to take away your guns" but they still portray him as someone who would be "the most anti-gun president in American history" and these ads are "airing in Pennsylvania, with more planned in Colorado, New Mexico and elsewhere".

Here is one of their ads:

To me it seems that the NRA is as much the National Republican Association as it is the National Rifle Association these days.

I saw HItler telling the Reichstag
that he will have no war against America before he declared war against America.

Sometimes its not good enuf to have blind faith
in what politicians SAY; u need to go with what u KNOW about them.
( like maybe from their voting records )

Amazing. That's totally unknown as I far as I could find out.

You're not attempting to express surprise or something are you?

Its not at all hard to find on Time Warner Cable 's History Channel.

Amazing ? Hitler tried to keep America from joining the war against him.
I don 't think that 's amazing. I suspect that he wanted to WIN the war.
U r usually well informed, at least about German matters.

I 've happened upon it several times; it can t be considered "rare footage".
( However, at the same time, he was trying to have a bomber built
to reach America, so he was not entirely honest [no offense, Walter]. )

I understand that u r endeavoring to display hostility,
or at least disapproval ( probably disdain ), but actually,
that is a disputed sore point within the NRA.
Some of us have taken umbrage at Wayne LaPierre 's failure
to recognize some pro-freedom Democrats for the value
of their contributions (voting) and supported RINOs instead.
(Republicans in name only.)

A lot of us think that Wayne is giving away the store.

Sometimes, when u r fighting back,
it is not always subtle; think of Hiroshima, for example.

That ad is creepy on several levels.

That's all I have to say.

Jeebus....why do they ALWAYS show a crazy gun toting Michigander as a spokeperson for NRA?

We are not all militia here and some of us even (gasp!) respect the right to bear arms without carrying around an oozie (sp?) all the time.

The problem isn't that hard to grasp...

Oinkbama's constituency includes large numbers of people who, in possession of firearms, would be killing themselves over sneakers, somebody's woman being dissed, somebody's ride being dissed, bottles of wine, drugs..

Ordinary rednecks such as myself see that simply as Darwinian laws in effect and are exceedingly loath to want to hear about tossing the second amendment over it. In other words, it's simply not our problem.

I saw two of the other ones here:

NRA Begins Multi-Million-Dollar Television Ad Campaign

Well. At least you get a pretty good impression, at least in the bottom one, of the NRA's constituency. Creepy, yeah. Not somebody I'd feel comfortable meeting in a dark forest.

And here's the truth (from the Obama website):

Quote:
Barack Obama recognizes the great conservation legacy of America’s hunters and anglers. Were it not for their contributions, including those of great icons like Theodore Roosevelt, our nation would not have the sound game management and extensive estate of public lands available to sportsmen. Obama will make sportsmen and their priorities a centerpiece of his land and water conservation agenda.

Barack Obama is committed to upholding the Second Amendment and promoting policies that will protect wildlife habitat and ensure that hunters and anglers have access to open spaces for generations to come.

Ok.....but he wants to support HIS version of the 2nd amendment right?

Where does he stand on firearms for self-defense?

Has he renounced his support of BANNING ALL semi-automatic firearms (including probably 70% of all handguns and over 2/3s of all rifles)

He never supported that, which you know.

Christ, Maporsche, what does he have to do to convince you? He's directly said 'I'm not interested in taking your guns away.' I think you just don't want to be convinced for various reasons.

"Various reasons"? Please elaborate.....

As far as not supporting a semi-automatic ban....maybe you should clear that up with Obama's positions.

http://www.ontheissues.org/Barack_Obama.htm

Barack Obama on Gun Control
FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008)
Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008)
Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban. (Oct 2004)
Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998)
