Effexor XR

I have been taking Effexor XR for maybe a year or more. My doctor perscribed this medication for hot flashes. I am not sure if I am really having a problem with hot flashes because I just seem to be hot most of the time. I told her that I just really don't like taking this medication. She really wants me to go off premarin so she put me on the lowest dosage of 0.3 mg daily for a couple of months and then just quit taking it but she still thinks I should continue to take the effexor. Effexor is a anti depressant but can be used for other health issues. What are your thoughts about these meds?
