This hummer who frequents my garden is called a Steely-vented Hummingbird or in Spanish (thats what birds speek here) Asimilla Coliazul. In daylight he's quite bluish but with camera flash most of the blue seems to dissapear and irridescent green takes over.

He is Beautiful!

Somewhere along the way I learned that bird feathers only actually have a couple of pigments (like maybe black and red) -- and all the other colors come from refraction of the light that hits their feathers.

Anyone know more about this?
