Naming a business - I need some creative help!

Can anyone help me come up with a name for my new business?

I'm handmaking jewellery and tiaras using wire and mostly swarovski crystals. My name is Charly/Char... Uh, do feel free to ask any other questions. Very Happy

When we named our art gallery, back in 2000, we tossed around lots of names. It took days, but it was also a lot of fun. A great many of the names we came up with sounded too much like trendy restaurants or like some clothing boutique. At one point I blurted out "Wretched Excess", which made us both laugh. It was high on the list for a while.

We ended up picking a name that really fit us. It was the italian for for both plants and plans - we also had a business doing landscape architecture and that fit us perfectly while sounding nicely artyfarty.

So, what, keep a note pad around and write down anything that comes to mind...

of the top of my head.

Crown Jewels
Char Cools
Charly
Charly Designs
Design Charly
Design Cottage

I might stay away from crystal in the name as you may end up wanting to use other jewelry elements more over time..

but if not,

Crystal Moon
Crystal Palace
Crystal Cottage

More later.

I like Wired Up.

There's also the dryer sort of name, using your initials,

C.X.X. Design
C.X.X. (Jewelry)

Charly Designs actually sounds quite nice... Shocked Why didn't I think of that?!

I was thinking (my friend Gemma has just expressed interest in taking part in the jewellery creation, but she's off to uni soon...) CharsGems would work! I am a little reluctant to use Gems though...not sure why, just reminds me of like spyro and big animated diamonds...

Wired up would work if I was doing more complex wire design, it's more simple hoops and loops with loads of crystal and beads and stuff. Mostly.

My initials are C.R.H. Which I think are pretty boring sounding...they don't really go...so much... really....

Oh, my landarch firm used our initials and the word Design, not Designs. There's a subtle difference and you may prefer one more than the other.

The difference - design refers to the activity you do, and designs refers to the products of that activity.

Yeah, I'm being careful. I'd prefer to keep it my own business, just maybe keep her interest up a bit incase I need a hand at some point.

Don't want to get too close incase my friend and her split, would be just a tad awkward.

CRH Design
CRH Designs

Hmm, the first reminds me of a graphics workshop.. Hey, there's the new name for my graphics workshop!!!

I dunno, I just don't think my initials look very good. "Chruh!"

My middle name is Rose.. Perhaps could use that?

Hmmm, have one for the graphics workshop - say, CRH Design - and the other for the jewelry business - say, Charly Designs..

(I don't see anything wrong with your initials.. but whatever you like.)

Thank u! BBB, is it me, or do those names sound sexual??? Shocked Reminds me of ladies bits, covered with flowers...Don't know why that would be...! Laughing

There's something about the words 'gems' and 'crystals' which makes me hesitant to use them. My friend and I agreed that in some cases they can make the name sound tacky..

Thanks Swimpy Very Happy How about :

www.honey-rose-designs.co.uk

Looks quite good in the URL bar..

Or leave out the hyphens:

www.honeyrosedesigns.co.uk

I kinda like that.

Do we think with or without the hyphens?

Well, I think without for a website. What about a business card? Honeyrose Designs or Honey-rose Designs.. or HoneyRose or Honey-Rose...

My bias is towards without hyphen. But it's what you like that matters.

I think without for the website too. I like hyphens, but it doesn't flow quite as much.. Which is easier to type?

Business cards.. Honey-Rose Designs

I like that too, and also agree with Osso -- sans-hyphen.

I love it. I'd go without the hyphens for your url. What about using quaint little roses instead of hyphens for your business logo?
