i've gotten where i don't care either.

i do, however, struggle with whether or not i should care that i don't care.

but i always wind up in such a quandary that i don't care to pursue the thought further.

far more distressing; i'm not sure i believe anymore.

"it's time for some campaigning"

Thanks Rama, I've been a little put off my nationalism lately, I mean the new Camaros being a whore's dream of paradise on wheels, Budweiser sold to teutonic frog-krauts, no sequel to 'The Golden Compass' - it's been a rough week - but as that thing you said about us being criminals instead of innocent victims, run that up the pole and I'll pledge allegiance to it! Land of the free, home of the brave!

I beg your pardon. It is not my intention to belittle anybody's view.
My world outlook is not based on my birth place .

Hopefully your son's response to your petty snub is 'I don't care'.

Should his conscience be for sale?

I have it on good authority and insider information that even your son has been biten by the Obama bug and told his sister in an unprompted confession that he would vote for Obama if he were going to vote. The only reason he does not vote, he says, is because he doesn't want to have to deal with "all the other crap that goes along with it like jury duty, etc."

When asked why, he said he likes Obama's ideas and because he's not George Bush.

Indeed - I've been keeping an eye on it between being a fan myself and looking for literary-quality-possessing media for the little Hannou cadets.

Now for some paranoid ranting:

It's a drag - when TGC came out I brought it up to the local Humanist group and none of them had heard of it - same problem as the new cars, there's no professionalism, everything is becoming a neutered little-tykes-brand parody of itself. That's why, like in my first reply, I try to be discriminating about my caring - one mustn't take the bait - that's all these commie-pinko-nanny-metrosexual types want is for you to start playing their game. Do not drink the kool-ade - as per the Stoic Virtues, retain your callousness and indifference!

hanno -- can your little one read or can you read to him/her? My son has the whole His Dark Materials series (TGC, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass) and it's quite good. It satisfied my desire for a movie sequel, and the book is, of course, better than the movie.

Br'er Duck - The big lad’s reading on his own, hasn’t done novel-length yet - the way these Disney movies get their attention, if ‘The Subtle Knife’ got made, what with a male lead character and all. They were into the movie ‘Cars’ and that was driving me nuts because it’s all about sacrificing personal ambition for community - these kids take that to heart it could cost the world a couple brain surgeons or something - I wish there were a way to challenge that junk on its own level. Definitely getting them the books at some point, I had a set, but lent ‘em out.
