There's still an opening out there for somebody to become the Andrew Carnegie of carbon fibre, these guys seem to have noticed:

One of the biggest differences you notice between today's small cars and those of 1965 is that the new ones are about a thousand pounds heavier. That's inexcusable.

Air Conditioning, Dual circuit ABS disc brakes, side and frontal air bags, power steering, controlled crunch frames, lap and shoulder belts, padded dashboards, electric windows, powered seats, collapsible steering columns,AM-FM stereo disc players, catalytic converters, automatic transmissions, rear passenger air conditioning, computer controlled fuel injection, running lights.

All this stuff adds up. Some of it is mandated by federal safety standards, some of it mandated by the free market place. It's absolutely inexcusable Exclamation

Which of these should we not be allowed to have on our cars Question Who gets to decide Question

Just for grins-Air Conditioning adds about 100 lbs and then takes from four to twelve horsepower to operate it. About the same as a power lawn mower. An automatic trans vs. the three on the floor, availiable on the 65 Mustang, adds about the same weight and power requirements.

Now what statesman will tell all the people that live in climate hardiness zones south of Ohio that they cannot have airconditioning or automatic transmissions for the good of the unborn.
