Huge Catfish Chows Down on Soccer Ball - Dies

Reply Wed 2 Jul, 2008 06:08 pm
BERLIN — A massive catfish has apparently choked to death after trying to chow down a soccer ball in a Bavarian canal.

German police say the unfortunate two-yard-long fish was found dead Monday, floating on the surface with a blue-and-white ball in its mouth.

"He tried to eat the ball and it got stuck," police spokesman Karl-Heinz Kuberlein said today.

Did the Euro 2008 soccer championship final on Sunday — where Germany lost 1-0 to Spain — have anything to do with it?

"Whether the fish was caught up in football fever in the aftermath of the European championship and hence snapped at the ball can unfortunately not be determined," police said in a statement.

It's a thankless job, but, somebody has to do it.

Poor edgar keeps trying to emulate your threads, Reyn. He even tried to post news about the world's oldest living chimpanzee. A bunch of jokers trashed that thread.

Gee I did not even know that there where catfish in Europe. If the fish was two yards long he must have a mouth bigger than his brain.

What does any of this have any thing to do with soccer or does it.

The first part, yes.

The second part, I'm feeling dispensible these days. Laughing

How's "retirement" treating you these days?

Well, if anyone can do it, Edgar can.

In regards to the trashing of threads, is the saying, "All news is good news", apply? In other words, better to be trashed than ignored? Laughing

I'm doing well, reyn. Got the bathroom about finished, at least the hard part of it. I cut up the old fiberglass tub with a power saw and put it out in some garbage cans this morning. It's gone.

I saw some other wacky stories that would make good threads, but so far haven't decided to use them. One is a story about a girl who walked on the tops of her feet, until surgeons "flipped" them over.

The human circus - I bet there's more than a million such stories every year, if we could find them.

There are as many stories as there are people and families. But it is the good story teller that makes the world go round.
