It's going to suck big time.

Going to Turkey for a week with a friend. Paid way too much for plane tickets, $375 each round trip.

Got an awful tour guide, being hosted by and staying with a former Prime Minister's son.

Sightseeing's going to be difficult, my friend and I are going to have our own driver to take us around during the days.

I just want to cancel and go to FL instead.

Anybody got any good insight into the Istanbul area? Things to look out for, or do, besides cause a wake of drunken disaster in my path?

Lufthansa. That's at least the one thing I contributed to this trip, since it's my friend who's friends with the Turkish guy.

Friend of mine hooked me up, her friend won two round trip US-Europe passes and couldn't use them, so sold me the pair for $600, then $150 in taxes.

Hope you have a wonderful horrible trip and manage to snag some photos, of whatever.

I've read one police procedural set in Istanbul and a book on it by Orhan Pamuk (might have read on it by Jan Morris too, but fuzzy memory) and yet have only a glimmer of what I don't know.

aw heck... all that sand between yer toots, having to get folk to massage sun lotion on you - (ugh, the very thought of it), needing to make sure you wear sunglasses every day coz the sun's shining so bright and you havta look cool, having the constant crick in yer neck every time a bella-turkey beaut walks by, drinking, laughing, R&R - man, that's gonna be tough a? You'll be glad to get home.
