Peace be upon you!
According to my believe, God has granted to mankind the instrument of prayer without which the human is not in a position to use fully his or her capabilities. To me, to get prayer answered, one believe God is All Powerful. To live in harmony and to see peace in families, prayers is the way. We need to remember our loved ones in our prayers.
Following are prayers for dear ones from holy Quran
( general info: w.alislam.org/quran/ ) :
Prayer for parents:
==============
My Lord, have mercy on them as they nurtured me in (my) childhood. [part of verse25: chapter 17]
Prayer for spouses and children:
=========================
Our Lord, grant us of our spouses and children the delight of (our) eyes, and make us a model for the righteous. [part of verse 75: chapter 25]
Thanks.
We Are Loved By An Unending Love
Rabbi Rami Shapiro
We are loved by an unending love.
We are embraced by arms that find us
even when we are hidden from ourselves.
We are touched by fingers that soothe us
even when we are too proud for soothing.
We are counseled by voices that guide us
even when we are too embittered to hear.
We are loved by an unending love.
We are supported by hands that uplift us
even in the midst of a fall.
We are urged on by eyes that meet us
even when we are too weak for meeting.
We are loved by an unending love.
Embraced, touched, soothed, and counseled,
Ours are the arms, the fingers, the voices;
Ours are the hands, the eyes, the smiles;
We are loved by an unending love.
Why not pray to a rock.....Its pointless and a waste of time no matter WHO you pray to Because its not going to Make a difference in any aspect...EVER.

Not true. In a study on the efficacy of prayer, patients who know they're being prayed to do worse than those who don't.
Prayer for Those Who Suffer
For those who suffer, and those who cry this night, give them repose, Lord; a pause in their burdens.
Let there be minutes where they experience peace, not of man but of angels.
Love them, Lord, when others cannot.
Hold them, Lord, when we fail with human arms.
Hear their prayers and give them the ability to hear You back in whatever language they best understand.
