Not sure, but I favor cowflop. It just sounds so cute.

Road apples for horse flops, of course.

meadow muffin, meadow wafer, pasture patty, I'm in New England, where we have more dogsh*t (and that's what we call it except for the asterisk), but I think those come from U. Utah Phillips, the Golden Voice of the Great Southwest.

For perhaps the ultimate word on the subject, you might want to listen to Utah Phillips' classic yarn "Moose Turd Pie", which you can hear at

Thanks everyone. I'm putting a pin in the map for each occurance in order to determine where the borders are between the terms.

(the border between soda and pop intersects the town of Sharon, CT)

(the border of the Red Sox Nation meanders near to Bristol and there is an undetermined line between Malt, Milk shake and Frappe *)
* pronounced phrap.

I'm not certain in my area. I just know that the cow doody is all pervasive, driving past the local dairy farm, if the wind prevails in my direction. It in fact smells like shit.

Edgar, Are you sure what State you are in? The directions for finding Texas from any of the Northern States has always been to drive South until you smell the cowsh*t.

That's Oklahoma.

Then you keep going South until you step in some.

THAT'S Texas.

Around these parts we call it cow shit. If it is a particularly large pile of cow shit and needs its presence made aware of, we call it cow feces.

I think here in MA we use cowpatties (Or at least I did growing up). When I was out West (UT) I called them cowpies.

The Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw and Festival--"The chip must be at least six inches in diameter, selected from the wagon-load provided"

http://www.wiscowchip.com/chuckinrules.htm

"Rule 7. To get a better hold on your chip, you may lick your fingers before you throw. (This is optional)"

"Learn to sing 'The Poop Scoopin' Boogie'"

Good clean (?) fun for all.

I think there are buffalo chips as well.

But what biological mechanism enables the potato to produce a potato chip?
