SUGARED WALNUTS, PECANS OR ALMONDS
Adapted by BumbleBeeboogie

1 cup granulated brown sugar (packed)
6 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2-1/2 to 3 cups walnut halves and other nuts, if desired*
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine the brown sugar, milk, grated orange peel, salt and cinnamon in large saucepan. Cook over low heat until a candy thermometer registers 236 degrees F.

Remove the pan from the heat and add the nuts and vanilla. Stir the mixture until it begins to look grainy.

Turn the mixture out onto a sheet of waxed paper or foil and separate the nuts to cool.

Store in a covered container in the refrigerator, but do not freeze.

*Note: Does not work well with Brazil nuts because the coating will not stick.
