I took these 3 pictures when I was in Mexico. Without looking them up, can you guess the name of each cat? btw I only got 2 right.

Here are just some types to choose from:
leopard, jaguar, lion, puma, cheetah, tiger, serval, panther, lynx, cougar

How can you tell whether the first one is a leopard or a jaguar?

Nemmind, I was just looking on wikipedia and I'm thinking it would be awfully hard to tell from that picture...but I guess black leopards are a lot more common than black jaguars, so I shall consider it a leopard Smile

Beats me....

A leopard is some sort of unpleasant tank thingy;
A Jaguar is a rather nice brand of sleek English car - to which I've always aspired.

What have they got to do with cats?

leopards are from africa and have black lines like tear drops from eyes. jaguars are from south america.

Leopards don't exist in the new world, so if you took the pictures of native animals, then you've got two jaguars and puma.

BTW, leopards and jaguars have rosettes. Cheetahs have unadorned spots.

Jaguars are larger than leopards and have thicker bodies. Bigger heads with a slightly elongated jaw.

Cougars, pumas, and mountain lions are the same animals. A subspecies is the Florida panther, now almost extinct and being interbred with cougars/pumas/mountain lions from other regions.

I hope you realize I was just giving you a bad time since I got that one wrong myself.

Basically,
Cat #1 is a jaguar (called panther due to the fact it is black)
Cat #2 is a puma
Cat #3 is a jaguar

Roberta
You definitely know your cats Very Happy
