Albuquerque A2K Get Together - Spring 2008

Reply Sat 29 Dec, 2007 03:39 pm
I propose that the next A2K gathering be in Albuquerque in, say, April, 2008.

There are a goodly number of folks in or near there, some of whom are not willing to travel too far from home anymore. There are many other A2Kers in TX, AZ, CO, CA etc who could get to Albuquerque fairly easily.

I have exchanged a few pm's with osso, who seems to be supportive of (my) floating this idea, but with this caveat: folks in Albuquerque would NOT be expected to do anything more strenuous than suggest hotels or restaurants or things to see. No guide service, or chauffer duty or hosting some grand event.

I want to try to take this one bite at a time. Step 1: Would you be interested in joining us assuming the timing and travel costs work out for you. No commitment required in Step 1.

You have GOT to be kidding! We'll be in Albaturkey in a few days and I am BEREFT that we can't spend more time. There is SO much beauty around that area!!

There's a Navajo reservation nearby, the painted desert, a Hopi reservation, canyons...geez!!! How far is the Shoshone Ice Cave?

<sobs>

I suppose, dys has to give you some lessons about NM and Bernalillo County, but especially about the native people there :wink:

Yeah--- I was trying to edit... We have a travel plan that includes those places, but they are on the way...in AZ on the road to NM.

There are still an abundance of native groups and missions nearer Albaturkey...

Still plotting our route to try to get in just a small bit of these incredible sights.

Um, it's possible we can drive here or there with folks, and a lot of us surely would meet at restaurants some of the time, but it would be best if people have or rent cars, perhaps teaming up in that, if they're staying and checking out the area, and even just to get around ABQ.

In talking about this the other day, Dys said he knows a possible hotel/cafe that would be good for meeting at, and we've talked of going to check it, and maybe some other places, out.

I wish I could be there in April...we have pretty serious plans to be quite poor in April...haha. Just settling in. But this should be the last year that is an issue for us.

Looking forward to meets in the future.

Depends on when... spring is my busy travel season but I would do it in a second if I'm not already going somewhere else.
