studio's closed for the walk - so we've been walking at the beach each morning - about 90 minutes Sat/Sun/today. Feels easy. hmmmm. That's good.

That is good!

Ran today. Newbie's having some shin splint issues -- she left after a couple of laps. Trackmom and I kept going and got a good 5 laps in, pretty fast. In some pretty hot weather. We decided we need to take it up a notch -- for 5 laps, in hot weather, pretty fast, they weren't as hard as we expected. We'll do 6 tomorrow (eek).

One thing RP didn't share is we've been playing frisbee.

It's decent cardio, calorie burn is pretty similar to Pilates, actually. Lots of jumping and twisting with a little running. Plus I'm getting more accurate.

Upped my morning walk to 2 miles. My back is ok so far and I've got another chiro appt later this afternoon. I'll keep up with 2 miles/day for this week and then bump it again next week if I can.

On Friday morning we were getting ready to drive the kiddo back up to college
in Montreal. We decided to remove the middle seat of the minivan to pack in
supplies and also allow additional leg room to Clive and Nigel. The lads were
slow getting their acts together so I thought "I can get that out by myself." It
was going well, too, until the back spasms.

So haven't jogged since then. I did a couple of long walks in the early morning
on Saturday and Sunday, but spent the rest of those days sitting down in a
marathon editing session for a book project.

But now we're home again and the back is feeling better. I'm going to do a very
slow mile or so today and build back up.

Oh no! Glad you're feeling better though.

Is it as hot in Bahstin as it is here? We ran as early as we could but it was still brutal. We were begging for mercy after three laps (decided not to push it). Lots of pollution warnings as well as just plain hotter'n hell. (Ozone, particles, allergy, etc...)

By the way Trackmom was musing about starting to keep a journal of what we do and I mentioned that I have a record going back to when we started -- she was thrilled! I usually mention who was with me so I think it goes for her too. I'm going to go back and put everything together and give her a copy I think. (Today -- Trackmom, me, Newbie 1, Newbie 2. Did some stairs as well (running up and down stadium steps).

82 and sunny today.

I ran the usual route with Two-Mile Mike yesterday and felt fine.
Today I did over four and a half and still OK. Whew!

Clive and I will be gymming tonight. I'm planning the wimpiest of workouts.

Nigel had been going to the gym while he was home this summer. He got some
compliments when he got back to school, so I think he's going to continue
working out during the year.

The gym workout wasn't as wimpy as I'd planned. I was toast by the end of it.

Hot and humid here today. I ran with Two-Mile Mike and we didn't even finish
the two miles. Tomorrow morning I'll have to get out early and log some
serious mileage. Unless Hanna determines otherwise.

Took a long walk with brendalee. The best endurance she's had for over a year. I was proud of her. She's been to the doc and started her weight-loss program. I think slow and steady's going to work.

Dance classes start again next week. I need to get a dvd player for the basement soooooon!

Crap, the kitchen alarm just went off. I'm going to be late for the four mile race this morning if I don't go now.

More tonight.

hehe

found an old frisbee in an old paint-tray - thought of you - brought it downstairs to dust off - to get ready to put it into use (it's a brilliant idea - lots of fun)

Just got done catching up on the last few days worth of posts. Everyone looks like they are doing well. Keep it up everyone.

Today I did an 18 mile run in a little over 3:10. The Chicago Marathon is on 10/12 so I have about 5 weeks left in my training. Next Sunday (9/14) I'll be running the Chicago Half-Marathon; I'm not looking to run it as fast as I can, I'm sort of treating it as a training run and a chance to get some experience before the marathon. I hope to average 10:00/mile during the half.

2008 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for my personal fitness.

Talk to you guys next week, good luck to all.
