Actually the Poseidon and Salamis lines have emailed me saying they stopped their sailing between Italy,Greece-Cyprus-Israel-Egypt 6 years ago. All suspended and will not be opened in 2008.

It's apparently possible to get a ferry from Athens (Piraeus) to Rhodes, then Rhodes to Alexandria. But it's a few days travelling, and probably better off flying straight to Cairo.
