I liked Arlo when he sang with Shenandoah and was doing covers of Beatle tunes. Then he just faded away. Did he contract Hutchinson's?

He's fine, still performing and making recordings. He does concerts in my Northeast area with Pete Seeger on occasion. He has a few non-profit environmental and health organizations that he champions.

He's still around and has a full tour schedule. I saw him, Pete Seeger and others many decades ago at a concert in Berkeley called the Co-op Hootenanny.

His kid and Willie Nelson's kid have formed a group called the Ukes and are carrying on the legend.

Here's Arlo's tour schedule for the next few months. He has a website where you can leave a comment if you're so inclined. His latest blog entry is about the Alice's Restaurant song.

Oh boy! Just looked at next year's tour schedule and he's going to be in the Berkeley area next Spring. I may have to save up some money for that.

Its interesting how most book and CD stores dont carry anything but huge piles of limited crap and dont even handle Many groups (Arlo being only one of the many)

Ah, Arlo. So glad he escaped the curse of Huntington's Disease.

I was just looking at his site (thanks, BFN) and man, I don't know most of those songs. My folks had the album with City of New Orleans on it. It also has Lightning Bar Blues and Ukulele Lady -- at least, those are the ones I remember.

For all the travelers on Thanksgiving, here's Coming into Los Angeles --

Quote:
Coming in from London
From over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

CHORUS:
Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

There's a guy with a ticket to Mexico
No, he couldn't look much stranger
Walking in the hall with his things and all
Smiling, said he was the Lone Ranger

CHORUS

Hip woman walking on a moving floor
Tripping on the escalator
There's a man in the line
And she's blowing his mind
Thinking that he's already made her

CHORUS

Coming in from London
From over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

CHORUS
