Vilomar Fernandez was a really good boxer with a very hard head who was still completely on his toes after 12 rounds; Duran had pounded the guy from the floor to the roof but somehow or other he was still there. Then between two of the rounds Ray Arcel told Duran to switch up and work combinations high to low and see how hard the guy's body really was.....

I remember being in a room with eight or ten people watching this as it happened. Duran hit this guy with an unbelievable two-punch combination to the body which crumpled him so thoroughly that everybody in the room just winced; you could feel the pain through the airwaves.

They asked Fernandez if he thought he could have gotten up and he said he thought he might could have, but that he was seeing two and three or Duran instead of one and his corner was telling him to stay down...

Yet another case of taking somebody out with body punching:

This was one of Duran's first welterweight fights and a textbook on how to bully people bigger than you are.
