So this is Monday. Who knew?

Still fuzzy--not clear-headed. Still sleepy. Just up from a nap. Turned over onto my right side in my sleep. It didn't hurt enough to wake me up, but it hurts now. Ouch. Still trying to play my word game. I can't get anywhere. Isn't the stuff I know still in my head somewhere? Access is limited.

Got a call from Howie. He'll be in town tomorrow (Tuesday). He's gonna come to see me. I hope my appearance doesn't scare him. It scares me. Swollen and beat up. The Frankestein stitches add a nice touch.

c.i., Please report in. How did the tests go?

Izzie, Hang in. A good kinda pain? I take your word for it. Hope you found a scarf you like. I wear a scarf around my neck at home. Poiple paisley.

Can't open my mouth wide enough to yawn. Ouch. Coughing hurts. Sneezing you shouldn't know from.

I enjoyed watching the baseball last night. I didn't watch steadily. I can't watch anything steadily. No focus. No attention. But I did watch enough to see my guys win. Some real cuties on the team. Smile Smile Hey, I'm a dirty old lady! Love it.

Gonna ask Howie for some brownies. He lives in Greenwich Village. They gotta have some decent bakeries down there.

I'm so happy (& relieved, too) about that, Roberta.

You would like Howie. Talented. A good guy. A mensch.

He said he's bringing goodies. I asked for brownies. I have to assume that that's what he's bringing. I'll report.

I'm going to sleep after a very fuzzy day. My vision isn't sharp. My brain isn't sharp. Nothing is sharp. Well, maybe my tongue. I'll find out if someone pisses me off.

I'm no longer blech. I'm now bleh.

Feeling mushy again about you guys. You da best. Bon soir.

Let's get that brain popping.

What's the difference between blech and bleh?

Fuzzy sounds about right. Poor brain is likely waking up and saying
"What in HELL just happened?"

Precisely...

The scary part is that even with fuzz she looks razor-sharp to me. When is she gonna figure out that she can take over the world once her brain is operating on all cylinders? At least she'd be a benevolent dictator... I hope... as long as she's well-stocked with brownies...

soz, Not taking over. Power is not my thing. Thanks for the vote of confidence, though. Not sure how benevolent I'd be.

Howie just left. Jeez it was good to see him. We talked about family, health, stuff. I confirmed my memories of our grandpa. Not wishful thinking. Real memories of a wonderful man. Smiling big time.

Howie did not bring brownies. He wandered around my neighborhood looking for a bakery. Stumbled into the fancy-shmancy place where I got my cakes. He brought me cupcakes!!! He and I are mystified as to why it's so hard to find a good brownie.

The cupcakes look divine.

The visiting nurse is on her way over. Such a busy goil today.

More scary stuff in the mail. I will not do anything about that stuff until next week after the staples are out.

The buzzer just buzzed. More later.

The visiting nurse thought I should see a doctor before the stitches are to come out next week. Not an emergency. Just more swelling than expected. She called. My surgeon is no longer with Bellevue!!! The same thing happened with my throat doctor.

No one is around to see me. She gave me a list of things to be on the alert for. If they happen, I should go to the emergency room. Otherwise, I'll wait for Tuesday.

Just did a big grocery visit. Had stuff delivered. The delivery guy has such a sunny disposition that I told him that seeing him lifted my spirits. He said I'm a nice lady. He promised to pray for me. He bowed. (He's from Africa.)

One last food splurge (I know I keep saying that). I bought a steak. Not sure if I can eat it. But the bloodiness of it appeals. I haven't had anything red and juicy in a long time. I'm an omnivore. Meat and veggies. Just writing about it makes me hungry. I'll take little bites.

Bought the fixings for tomato sauce. I'll make a big batch and make chicken parmiagiana. I make it good. I made it a few weeks ago (presurgery). I was telling my therapist about the pleasure I had in pounding the chicken. I claimed I had the flattest chicken in the Big Apple. She couldn't stop laughing. Sometimes pounding is good.

Still lit up by Howie's visit. He's a terrific guy. And we shared a childhood. I told him how confused I was with the family relationships in his building. He may still be laughing from when I explained that I thought our grandpa was a bigamist. I had one grandpa and two grandmas on the same floor of the same building. What else would a little goil think?

We talked about family meshuginas (many). Smiling.

He told me that on his next visit he'd bring Flower, is toy poodle/long-haired chihuahua mix. I have photos. If anything could lift my spirits, it would be an animal. Even more than a loved person. Why? Just who I am.

Will there be a replacement surgeon/doctor at Bellevue for you on Tuesday, Roberta? It sounds like at the moment there's only the choice between the nurse or the emergency centre. Or maybe I've misunderstood?

olga, I will see a neurosurgeon on Tuesday, just not the one who did the surgery. There are many neurosurgeons at the hospital.

I agree. Hooray for Howie.

I'm thinking, dj, I'm thinking. There must be something I could ask for.

I gotta tell ya, that steak was like a transfusion. It did me good.

Tonight, fried chicken with cole slaw.
