World leaders are in Sydney for the APEC Talk fest.

Mr Howard later described Americans as being "bad spellers".

A White House press briefing last Thursday about US President George Bush's visit to Australia said he would arrive in "Sidney" on Tuesday evening.

Mr Bush was looking forward to "the hospitality of Sidneysiders", the statement said.

Mr Howard jokingly admonished Mr Bush's "bad White House".

"It's a predictable error for an American to make because they're bad spellers," he said.

Pact lifts lid on US defence secrets
THE US President, George Bush, will unveil a new security pact in Sydney this week, granting Australia preferential access to top-secret US military technology and enhancing co-operation on defence and counter-terrorism.

Dubbed by US military sources as a significant upgrade in the alliance, the initiative is expected to be launched when Mr Bush addresses Australian troops and defence top brass at a lunch at Garden Island on Wednesday.
