Privacy Trees?

Was going to start building fences next year because, you know what they say "fences make good neighbours" ;-)

Anyway, I started thinking about the fact that I'd have to maintain the fence, break out the hedge cutter to cut the grass along both sides of the fence, etc and I've truly got more than enough to do as it is, so I started thinking about planting some nice evergreens that get to be around 7-8 ft tall, that are bushy right to the bottom.

I don't know a hell of a lot about trees, so I thought I'd ask you guys for suggestions on what types of trees would work well.

I did a little research and found some that grow quickly, even 5-6 Ft a year, which is what I'm interested in.

I also want trees that don't need pruning and maintaining. Just want to plant them, baby them for a bit until they take root, then leave them be.

Any suggestions would very much be appreciated.

I sent you a PM.

Please don't anyone suggest bamboo. No one should plant bamboo unless they own at least three panda bears.

I'll try and get back with suggestions later.

Hey Montana, I found this when I was checking on whether cypress and yew were the proper names for the plants I was thinking of:

Looks useful.

Will pyrocantha grow up there? Nice and dense follage, about the right height, and really awesome thorns.

Yep, arborvitae is the tree screen most used, especially when you have a lot of territory to cover. How private do you want it to be? Privet might be a good option for medium privacy.

I want full private, but not huge trees like our spruce. Just looking for something that is bushy all the way to the bottom and grows to be around 7 ft tall.
Also, something that grows fast. I've seen some that grow up to 6 ft a year, but 3-4 ft a year would be ok too.

I do have quite a bit of area to cover and I don't mind paying a bit more for trees that look nice, while giving my my very much needed privacy.

Montana, arborvitae mostly grow quite a bit larger than 7 feet tall. Tho, I do think there are dwarf varieties.
